The Balearic Islands are a unique combination of
glamour, Gothic grandeur, vibrant nightlife and isolated
anchorages. Sundrenched, these Spanish islands are simply stunning
with world-class ports of call including Palma and its Medieval
architecture and paved streets, or Ibiza- a favorite among
jet-setters. Offering so much more than bustling nightlife,
Ibiza is also crowned with quaint traditional
villages cultivating an unhurried lifestyle. A UNESCO Biosphere
Reserve, 40% of the surface of Menorca is protected from
development. The Balearics are the westernmost
islands of the Mediterranean where impeccable weather conditions
prolong the charter season. Warm sparkling waters, palm-lined
beaches, remote anchorages, balmy breezes and clear night skies of
twinkling stars promise a nonpareil summer adventure.
Start your adventure in Palma, the capital of Mallorca offering
direct and connecting flights to many worldwide destinations. Once
you get there, spare some time to visit La Seu, a majestic Gothic
cathedral built over a mosque. Although the construction was
commissioned in 1229, it was completed centuries later in 1601. The
Old City in Palma is a great maze of colorful facades and paved
streets dating back to the Arab era. Head over to the four Caves
del Drach (Dragon Caves) on the island’s eastern shores where each
visit ends with a short classical performance by four musicians on
a boat.
In the morning, a short cruise to the tiny uninhabited island of
Cabrera featuring only one anchorage and requiring a permit for all
visits ashore. A restricted cruising destination, Cabrera is a
national park home to protected species of dolphins and sea snails
that are rare in other parts of the Balearic region. The islet
features a 14th century castle and museum as well as gift shop.
Dinner onboard and overnight crossing.
After an overnight crossing to Formentera, wake up on the smallest
of the four main Balearic Islands. Because it remains largely
untouched, some people like to call it “the last paradise in the
Med”. Formentera is well reputed to have some of the best beaches
on the entire continent. White and pristine, they attract nature
lovers from all over while exploring the island is easily with the
multitude of biking and hiking trails. Es Pujols, the island’s only
tourist resort, remains intimate compared to a standard tourist
destination. Enjoy fish soup and grilled seafood for dinner and
stroll around the island before getting back onboard.
Formentera is located only 3nm away from Ibiza so your crossing
over to the Mediterranean’s party capital will be short. The island
is lined with nightclubs overflowing with visitors enjoying life to
the fullest in this sundrenched location. The island, however, has
so much more to offer than just nightlife as Ibiza boats of natural
wonders and monuments to explore such as Ses Fontenelles and its
drawings dating back to the Bronze Age or Greek temples hidden in
Cueva d’es Cuieram.
Head over to the northern part of Ibiza to Portinatx, a remote and
tranquil harbor best accessible by boat. Perfect for a luxury
charter vacation, Portinatx has long been a favorite refuge of
sailors. Remote and rimmed with beaches and luscious pine forests,
this part of the island is blessed with scenic panoramas and many
believe it to be the most beautiful resort on the island, further
sporting a Pirate tower and a lighthouse. Unlike Ibiza Town, it is
far for being a bustling locale and you will appreciate the casual
ambiance of this relaxed slice of paradise. Test the water toys
available on board of the yacht or go ashore to spend some quality
time on the beach.
Portals Nous is home to one of the most elegant marinas in the
Mediterranean, Puerto Portals. Once a fishing village, it has now
developed into a luxurious destination featuring seafront
restaurants and cafes as well an eclectic mix of boutiques and
landmarks to visit. With a wide spectrum of activities in the
marina and outside, Puerto Portals has something for every taste
and will appeal even to the most discerning charter guests.
Today on the last day of your yachting holiday in the Balearics,
your luxury charter catamaran, elegant mega
yacht, charter sailing boat or
high-performance motor yacht will make her way back
to where the cruise started in Palma. If you did not have enough
time to visit it when you arrived and if you can afford some time
in town before departing home, stroll around Palma or stay for
lunch or dinner.
